Challenge: A new logo supported by a complete rebrand. The primary requirement was that the logo would focus on a visual icon/mascot component, with the accompanying wordmark remaining relatively simple.

Design Decisions: I emphasised the idea of “contrast” to showcase that two DJs make up DFT, by referencing the metaverse concept with a gateway (the DJ’s are very involved with digital gigs). The character’s depiction also references the double quaver, with the legs/feet reflecting the stems and note-heads of the music symbol.

Alternate Designs
Design Decisions: This design draws inspiration from the Ozark title scenes, where each icon represents the episode’s happenings along with spelling out the word ‘Ozark’ (with each symbol representing a letter). This design would allow the use of bespoke symbols depending on the logo’s context – e.g. a summer series mix: may substitute in a palm tree for ‘T’.
Design Decisions: Much like the selected idea, I wanted to emphasise the idea of crossing through worlds/dimensions with a tie to the metaverse concept and music being the key to breaking through. With the idea being that this primary logo will be used to reference all things music for DFT across the board, the hand in the logo is adjusting the mixer’s knob.

Artwork Template
The full artwork incorporates DJ related material, including a jogwheel (beneath the character) and a crossfader on the left of the artwork. The template was designed to allow details to be updated for each release.

Performance Visual
To be displayed on screens during performances, DJ-related graphics were added to the design. The logo has the character stepping through the portal while also running along the spinning plate.
