01

Brand Design & UI Elements

Design Decisions: I referenced modern-day Japanese aesthetics in terms of the pink-purple colour tone, incorporation of gamified pixel-art, and playful sound effects that drive positive sentiment. I wanted to incorporate the spin arrow from the gacha machine handle as I knew that it would make an animated version of the logo feel lively and playful.

02

Power-Up Design

The collectible power-ups were modelled based on traditional gaming objects. The semi-translucent, plastic material gives the objects a sleek, toy-like appearance, and allowed the lighting of the 3D scene to accentuate the curves and edges.

03

Capsule Design

Inspired by traditional capsule shells, stickers were added to both the transparent and solid plastic components. These graphics indicate the type of power-up contained inside, along with identifiers that outline the “+1” boost that each grants.

04

Machine Design

Inspired by Bandai gacha machines, the actual design follows a traditional shape, with a curved container showcasing the capsules. Rather than displaying the physical power-ups in the top display case, I wanted to reserve the area for a hologram to display the branding.

05

Interactive Kiosk Poster

This follow-up poster design focuses on showcasing the different gacha collectibles – with the poster potentially being displayed on interactive screens or terminals around the city. The composition and design-style could also double up and inspire the appearance of their website.
