Challenge: A brand image centred around a vintage mascot illustration (rubber hose / 1930’s styled) and a primary colour + neutrals palette. It was required that the character is engaging in a music related activity.

Gramophone turned into a character
Design Decisions: Taking insight from the menagerie of quirky characters that appeared in shows produced by the Fleischer Brothers and Walt Disney, I divided our mascot options into 4 distinct categories: human, animal, supernatural and inanimate object. To bring it all full circle, we settled on an animated phonograph character, effectively bringing together the musical and retro components of the brief.

The key requirement for the artworks was that the mascot was the primary focus. As the label offers both physical pressed vinyls and digital-only releases, two formats had to be developed – black for physical and yellow for digital.

Promotional Graphics
Unique promotional videos were created for each release to generate hype prior to the EP’s becoming available for download.
Promo graphics were designed to showcase Curated’s many talented upcoming artists. To maintain the consistency and strength of the brand, I chose to only utilise black, white and the brand’s signature yellow.
